Starfish (2023) Review

Starfish, a film based on Bina Nayak's novel Starfish Pickle, follows Tara Salgoankar, a skilled commercial diver who rescues lives, cleans up oceans, and aids marine creatures. The plot revolves around complex relationships and the impact of few scars in our lives leaving a permanent mark. The film starts promising but ends up being a mockery of these relationships.

The script is uninteresting and lazy, with characters and drama caught the attention of the audience. The protagonist, Tara, struggles to find closure and heal herself from her past wounds. The movie could have been shorter, as the crucial revelation and outcome were predictable. The movie ends with a few characters' arcs open for viewers' imagination.

Despite the wafer-thin script, the performances of Khushali Kumar, Milind Soman, Ehan Bhat, and Tusharr Khanna were honest and convincing. Khushalii Kumar delivers a captivating performance, especially during dramatic moments. However, the script doesn't give them enough importance, as they revolve around Tara. Milind Soman's character is limited and predictable.

The underwater sequences and exotic locations of Malta are beautifully captured, but these factors aren't enough to justify the expensive movie ticket. Instead, viewers should watch interesting underwater adventures at Discovery or Nat Geo.
