HanuMan (2024) Review
Director Prasanth Varma has teamed up with Teja Sajja to create HanuMan, a Telugu-language superhero film. The Sankranti release, starring Amritha Aiyer, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, and Vinay Rai, weaves together elements of Indian mythology with a contemporary narrative. The film presents a classic confrontation between Hanumanthu, the deserving bearer of divine power, and Michael, the antagonist driven by his desperate pursuit of the same supernatural abilities. Prasanth skillfully integrates familiar elements from various sources, blending them with CGI, to enhance the protagonist's supernatural presence in the village setting. The story also delves into the rural dynamics and struggles of Anjanadri, including a love story and the challenges faced by villagers under oppressive practices.
Teja Sajja delivers a convincing performance as Hanumanthu, a mischievous thief who later becomes the savior of Anjanadri. Varalaxmi Sarathkumar delivers a powerful performance as Anjamma, the elder sister of Hanumanthu. Amritha Aiyer delivers a balanced performance as Meenakshi, a doctor and daughter of a school teacher. Vinay Rai, playing the antagonist, adds depth and authenticity to the characters. The film's visual effects (VFX) enhance the narrative without overwhelming it, while the cinematography and music by Anudeep Dev, Gowra Hari, and Krishna Saurabh add to the overall experience.
